Calderdale Current

Grants to support projects that reduce energy use and carbon emissions in Calderdale.

"Calderdale Current is not a side project. It is part of who we are. It's our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and improving environmental performance in the place we call home."

Andrew Hawley, Founder

Calderdale Current provides grants to support projects that reduce energy use and carbon emissions in Calderdale. The aim is to deliver environmental and community benefit. Any benefit to the business is incidental to this purpose.

How It Works

For every kilowatt hour of electricity our clients use through Baseline Power, 0.5p is contributed to the Calderdale Current fund. The fund is managed by the Community Foundation for Calderdale (CFFC) as an environmental and public-benefit programme.

Clients become eligible to apply for grants after six months of participation with Baseline Power.

What the Grants Can Fund

Projects must deliver measurable reductions in energy consumption or carbon emissions. Examples include:

  • LED lighting
  • Insulation
  • Heating controls
  • Energy-efficient equipment
  • Solar PV (where appropriate)
  • Energy-management systems

Energy Audits

Energy audits and assessments are eligible where they help identify opportunities to reduce energy use and carbon emissions.

Why It Matters

Energy waste contributes to carbon emissions that affect the whole community. By funding projects that cut energy waste and improve environmental performance, Calderdale Current helps build a more resilient, lower-carbon Calderdale - benefiting the wider community.

Monitoring

Successful applicants may be asked to provide evidence of the energy or carbon savings achieved.

Compliance Statement

Calderdale Current is delivered by CFFC as an environmental and public-benefit programme. Grants cannot be used for general business support, commercial expansion, or activities unrelated to energy or carbon reduction.
